The first joy of writing is the action of pen on paper, making manifest the magic of imagination.
The second joy of writing is the gift the reader imparts by devoting minutes, hours, even days, in perusal of the writer's offering.
The third joy of writing is the attention given by the critic or reviewer in praise, critique, or expression of disappointment, all of which are tools implemented by the thoughtful writer.
The fourth joy of writing is publication and, perhaps, even payment.
The fifth joy of writing is the next new seed of an idea that comes to mind, takes root and grows until it finds its expression in the first joy.
